Learning Support Assistants

The Role of Learning Support Assistants at Testwood

We have 9 Learning Support Assistants working with our SEND students. LSAs have high expectations of all students, and use their subject knowledge to enable all students to achieve the learning objective in lessons.  Teaching staff plan lessons to make effective use of LSAs, therefore their impact is significant in contributing to the learning and achievement in our classrooms.

Some of our LSAs specialise in working with our students to develop their literacy and numeracy, social and emotional literacy and students experiencing behavioural difficulties.

Learning Support Assistants are also key workers for some of our most vulnerable pupils. They will be the first point of contact for both teachers and parents, to ensure that each day runs smoothly and any issues that arise are dealt with both efficiently and effectively.

The Learning Support Assistants also supervise homework clubs which take place in a Monday and Thursday from 3-4pm in The Hub.
