Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a nationally recognised programme that challenges young people to develop new skills, help others, and experience adventure. Through a combination of volunteering, physical activity, skill development, and an expedition, students build confidence, resilience, and independence while creating memories that last a lifetime.
At Testwood School, the DofE Bronze Award is an opportunity for students to show they are caring by giving up their time to support others through volunteering and community service. True to our inclusive values and the awards specifications, the programme is open to everyone aged 14 and above, encouraging a supportive team environment where students from all backgrounds learn together, discover new talents, and explore the natural world. The programme is inclusive to all students as each section of volunteering, physical activity and skill development can be selected based on individual needs, interests and passions. Everyone and anyone can be part of DofE. Above all, it drives our students to be ambitious, challenging them to set demanding personal goals, overcome obstacles, and achieve things they never thought possible.
Students at Testwood School can take part in this enriching journey by working towards their Bronze Award. Whether learning a new skill, helping within our local community, or navigating an outdoor expedition in The New Forest National Park with friends, the Bronze Award equips students with essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and perseverance. It supports our school mission to develop young people who are caring, inclusive, and ambitious, preparing them for bright futures both in school and beyond.
