In the National Curriculum Framework document released in July 2013, it says that Computing equips pupils to understand and change the world through logical thinking and creativity, including by making links with mathematics, science and design & technology. Computing equips pupils to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of media. At Testwood, students are already seeing the benefit of acquiring these skills.

The teachers in the Computing department aim to give pupils a greater understanding of the digital world and how it works. It is an increasingly important area of the life students lead, yet they have little idea how the technology they take for granted actually works. Therefore the emphasis is on helping pupils to understand what goes on behind the scenes; how programs and websites are developed and how devices are controlled.
